What is an RMT?
A Registered Massage Therapist (RMT):
-Must graduate from an accredited 2300 Hour Diploma Program with a minimum average of 70%
-Must successfully complete four Provincial Board Examinations in the areas of:
-Clinical Science and Theory of Assessment, Procedure and Treatment of Conditions/Pathologies
-Science and Theory of Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Neuroanatomy
-Law and Ethics in relation to being a Health Care Provider in the Province of British Columbia
-Practical Evaluation of Diagnostic Procedure, Assessment, and Treatment of Conditions
-Must be in good standing with the College of Massage Therapy of British Columbia (CMTBC)
What Does an RMT Do?
1) Provide assessment and diagnosis of soft tissue injuries and joints of the body including:
-Postural assessments and identification of muscular imbalance
-Neurological and Orthopedic testing to identify and address the root source of a pain-dysfunction or discomfort
-Assessment of soft tissue structures including fascia, ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerve pathways and orthopedic alignment
2) Provide treatment and prevention of injury, pain, and physical disorders
RMTs are trained in the to treat a multitude of issues including;

3) Provide information for referrals to other healthcare professionals
